Carat

The carat weight is objective compared to the other 4 Cs. The carat comes from times of old when diamond weight was measured against carob beans or 4 grains of rice. As the size of a diamond increases, the price of the diamond will increase exponentially. This is because diamonds become rarer as they get larger.

Bear in mind that diamond weight does not necessarily mean a bigger diamond. Diamond cuts that are too shallow or two deep can give the appearance of a larger diamond, but will severely diminish the way the diamond refracts or reflects light.
